Das vorliegende Album PiL Alife 2009 dokumentiert einen Live-Auftritt von John Lydon’s Public Image Ltd. in der Brixton Academy. Den kompletten Auftritt gibt es auf zwei Doppel-LPs in jeweils streng limitierter Auflage on 1000 Stück und auf Colored Vinyl – Part 1 auf weißem Vinyl, Part 2 auf rotem Vinyl.

The new lineup (consisting of Lydon, earlier members Bruce Smith and Lu Edmonds, plus multi-instrumentalist Scott Firth) played to generally positive reviews in late 2009, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of Metal Box. However, protested Lydon, „This tour is absolutely nothing to do with an anniversary of anything… We didn’t even know that Virgin were planning on releasing a very limited edition of Metal Box because they never bothered to confer with us.“ The tour spawned a live album, PiL ALiFE 2009. This deluxe double vinyl is taken from the 2009 Brixton Academy show.
